Donate to the
Mark Reed Foundation

Many services at Mark Reed are made possible through generous contributions from community members, Mark Reed employees, private donors and local businesses. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to accept online contributions.

If you are interested in making a donation to the Foundation, please contact Kristin Masteller, Executive Director for more information. You may also mail donations to: MRF, 322 S. Birch Street, McCleary, WA  98557.

There are four different types of donations: Unrestricted, Restricted, Memorial and Sponsorships.

Unrestricted means that the donation goes into the general fund. These monies are used to fund different projects and programs through the Foundation at the discretion of the Foundation Board.

Restricted contributions can be donated for specific programs the Foundation is hosting or participating in including:

Patient Assistance Fund: This fund is designated to help patients who need assistance managing the costs associated with necessary prescriptions and transportation to/from appointments. Patients who meet this criteria are given pre-paid gas cards, bus fare, or free/reduced costs prescriptions at Elma Pharmacy. To date, this program is mainly funded by employee donations.

MRHCD Employees' Scholarship Program: This program was developed by health care district board members and employees in the 1990's. Each year, two seniors graduating from local area high schools and plan to enter a medical field are awarded a scholarship from the Mark Reed employees. Anyone can donate to this fund and help promote education for students in East Grays Harbor.

New Construction Fund:  Mark Reed is planning to construct a new hospital by 2012. A captial campaign will be introduced shortly to assist with the costs of construction. Community members and employees have already begun contributing to this fund!

New Equipment Fund:  Probably the main focus of the Foundation's work, the new equipment fund is funded by the profit from the Golf & Gala Event, as well as other designated donations. This fund helps us replace old and aging equipment at the hospital facility.

Comfort for Kids:  This program purchases stuffed animals to hand to children who visit the emergency room for stitches or other scary procedures. The animals provide some comfort for the children and helps take their mind off of their pain. This program has been immensely successful since its beginning in 2008.

Memorial contributions can be made to recognize a significant event such as an anniversary or birth, or contribute in memory of a loved one. These contributions support the general fund. For a list of memorial contributions, click the link on the left of the page.

Sponsorships are great ways for businesses to support the Foundation through its various fundraising events like the signature Golf & Gala Event and the St. Patrick's Day Bash. Sponsorships help reduce the overhead costs and allow for more of the fundraising proceeds to be directly applied to the causes.
